California Orders Closures, Again

Robert Ebin /

On July 13, 2020, due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in California, Governor Newsom announced that he is requiring all counties in California to close indoor operations for all:

  • Dine-in restaurants
  • Wineries (and bars unless alcohol is offered with a sit-down outdoor meal)
  • Movie theaters
  • Family entertainment centers (i.e., arcades, bowling alleys, etc.)
  • Zoos and museums
  • Cardrooms

Additionally, all counties on the County Monitoring List must shut down gyms, worship services, protests, offices for non-essential sectors, hair and nail salons and other personal care services, and malls. You can review more information about the orders here.

Importantly, these new orders do not specifically affect automobile dealerships, for now. Dealers can stay open but must still follow all applicable health orders.  You can read more about the specific industry guidance California issued for automobile dealers here.

Since this resurgence is an evolving situation, dealers are cautioned to stay vigilant for any further updates or orders.
